Some fixes
Even though this website is not very active anymore, I thought I would upgrade all the software on here and fix some errors...ie: not being able to log in. I will keep the fcat page around for posterity so we can look back on things.
Regards,
Brian
EDIT: New user creation also fixed.
Winter Airsoft Trip and Other News
Well, it's been a while since our last update, and I just thought I'd fill everyone in on our latest and greatest Winter Airsoft Trip (WAT). This was our 4th Annual (FAWAT) and according to the general opinion, our best WAT ever!!
It started on December 28th 2004, with the FCAT crew arriving first and setting up camp. We constructed some forts and made sure everything was set up right for our incoming guests. The Crusaders arrived slightly late in the afternoon, and set up their gear in the house as everyone greeted each other as nicely as our introverted selves can! But other than a bit of a shaky start, the rest of the trip went great. We all went out to dinner the first night, and thanks to the Crusader's sponsor (his name evades me now), we all switched up and sat with members of the other team. Well I can tell you that this was a great idea, and allowed us to all get to know each other better. For me, it was awesome to be able to get to know Diego, Chris, Alex and Alex, and the other guys at my table. They were a hoot!
The next day, we all got up fairly early (8am for this old boy) on a frigid Florida morning. Slowly we groggily got our gear on and organized for the day's airsofting, which we opened up in a round of prayer, an excellent idea! It would take forever to go into detail about all of our games, but to make a long story short, the rounds were all exciting for the most part, which is saying something considering FCAT's love of guerrilla tactics (eg waiting). On our part, teamwork was excellent and radio work kept us all tight and organized as we attacked the Crusaders. On their part, they held us off pretty well during a few of the rounds, which is impressive considering that we're twice as experienced as they are! They even won a couple of rounds!! Good job guys! One of the most memorable rounds for me is one during which a squad consisting of SSgt. Smith , Private Deloney, and 1Sgt. Anagnostou contacted our supporting squad of Sgt. Major Lui, 1Sgt. Lui, Sgt. Tinley, and Cpt. Campbell. We decided to move up the back road to the hill, in order to move in through the woods and continue our assault. My squad slowly moved up, with me in point, and we spotted our larger support squad, when we then became more confident and cautiously moved further into the middle of the road to quicken our pace. Just as my squad came into sight of the hill, Cpt. Campbell's squad was just under the hill, and at that point, the ambush was unleashed! Crusaders unloaded fire into Cpt. Campbell's squad as my squad watched in confusion. We readied ourselves and took shots as the opportunities arose. At one point, Crusader jumped off of the mound facing the direction of the large squad, completely unaware that Smith, Deloney, and I were right behind him!! I quickly eliminated him while the rest of our team worked to quell the ambush. After the firefight, we re-organized and moved to the top of the hill to clear the remaining area, which was empty. Our whole team was accounted for. It was excellent teamwork on our part, and sneaky and clever tactics on the Crusader's part. They realy gave us a run for our money there! One of the best airsoft moments I have ever experienced.
Everyone was great throughout the trip, with the exception a potentially dangerous shaving cream "mishap" and some other foolery, but nothing too out of hand, which was good. At least nobody acted like a sore loser, and we all had a good time.
Next on the agenda is the airsoft outreach. This was our biggest game ever, with 28 people in attendance! They all were well armed and ready to play with good attitudes and a hunger for fun. The weather was beautiful, and I even managed to get my obligatory swim in during the middle of winter here in Florida! Our purpose of this meet was to share the message of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior to our fellow airsofters. The turnout was incredible, as 3 people made a decision to recieve Christ into their lives and to persue a personal relationship with Him, changing their lives forever!! I was personally joyous and relieved that God had done His work through us. FCAT would like to extend also a thank you to Tray's mother for supplying us with pizza and refreshements. That was quite awesome of you!
So, everyone, I hope you'll stick with FCAT in the future, even as some of us go off to college, because who knows what the future may hold for one of the most fruitful and solid airsoft teams in Florida, if not the United States! God bless y'all and thanks for a great 2004!!
